Film.

Movie Review of
Christopher Nolan's Inception:

In this epic year of the director, (Katherine Bigelow, winning the first female Best Director Oscar for her stunning work in The Hurt Locker, and James Cameron impeccable creativity for Avatar) Christopher Nolan has made a huge impact in the world of cinema. The Batman series, in my opinion, put him on the map. He brought out this dark, eerie version of a super hero and made the audience re-appreciate Batman as a major badass. And what he did with Heath Legder was just plain legendary... but this is a review about Inception, right?

After the Batman series, Christopher Nolan had created such respect and admiration amongst movies goers, that Inception was already going to be incredible. And incredible--it was.

Leonardo DiCaprio and Marion Cotillard stole this film. They play husband and wife whom love each other so deeply that they wanted to stay together forever...which meant deep within their subconscious. This is where the movie gets confusing. You can not really tell who is dreaming and who is really living in reality. Regardless of the somewhat confusing plot, these actors are tremendous, and I sure hope they both get nominated for their work.

The sound and score of Inception were pure genius. Completely Christopher Nolan style of work. If you were to watch this movie with your eyes closed, and just listened to the brilliance--you would hear a similar sound as the Batman movies--and know that is a Nolan film.

Another interesting part of this film-- there was no concept of a time-frame. The audience did not see a computer or cell phone or a particular clothing style to decipher when this film took place. With that in mind, it makes this movie an automatic classic.

The ending of this movie is unlike any other. The buzz about it has become epic. People and talk shows having been ranting and raving about this topic because it was that fascinating.

Was Leo really dreaming, or was he awake in reality?

We will never know, but that is the best mystery of all.
Bravo, Christopher Nolan, Bravo!

Best Quote of the film:
Ariadne: "Why is it so important to dream?" Cobb: "Because, in my dreams we are together." -Inception

Movie Lovers--enjoy this ride because it is wild.

Songs that fill my soul

Music.

Top Favorite--thus far--and in no particular order:

*Smile by Charlie Chaplin

I will sing the lyrics of this song to my children one day (just like in the movie "My Girl").

Smile, though your heart is aching,
Smile, even though it's breaking.
When there are clouds in the sky-
You'll get by.
If you smile through your fear and sorrow,
Smile and maybe tomorrow
You'll see the sun come shining through
For you.
Light up your face with gladness,
Hide every trace of sadness.
Although a tear may be ever so near,
That's the time you must keep on trying,
Smile, what's the use of crying?
You'll find that life is still worthwhile,
If you just smile.

* Kingdom Come by Coldplay

When my brother was going to marry my sister-in-law, he was looking for the perfect song to dance to. We were driving in the car, he handed me his iPod and played me this song.
I listened, looked out the window to the desert of New Mexico, and found pure beauty.
Not only was this song incredible, but in that moment I understood the love between my brother and sister-in-law.
For you, I'd wait 'til kingdom come,
Until my days, my days are done.
Say you'll come and set me free,
Just say you'll wait, you'll wait for me.
Just say you'll wait, you'll wait for me.
Just say you'll wait, you'll wait for me.

I handed the iPod back and said: "perfect."

* I will follow you into the dark by
Death Cab for Cutie

Another song that I heard once and feel in love with.

"It's just this idea that what if somebody dies and we're just floating, just stumbling around in infinite darkness, and I'm just trying to find some kind of spiritual kind of peace with myself, and the world."
—Ben Gibbard, lead singer

* Life in Technicolor ii by Coldplay

The rhythm of this song makes me smile every time I listen. It is the kind of song that makes everything around you that much more beautiful.

*Single Ladies by Beyonce

Ok, now this one changes up the mood of the other songs. But it is the most fun to dance to!
Where ever I am, I stop and do the dance from the incredible music video. Beyonce is such a talent. And if I switch lives with anyone famous--it would be her. Plus she is married to the one and only Jay-Z. C'mon!! What a dream!

This song also makes me think of an old-worker, forever a friend, who noticed that I danced everytime this song came on over the loud speaker. And the lovely Jenna, didn't make fun of me at all--in fact she joined in--now that is the power of music!

And now, that I don't work there anymore, I got a text from her saying, "Single Ladies came on the other day, and I had no one to dance with.."

*Into the Mystic by Van Morrison

No words can truly describe the magic of Van Morrison, but I shall try:

inspiring
romantic
mysterious
soulful
poetic
spiritually transformative

*Over the Rainbow by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole

I grew up watching "Wizard of Oz", so this song reminds me of childhood. And when I was about 8 or 9 years old, I sang this song while my dad played his guitar in front of our church family. Every year my dad puts on a "Coffee House" performance where people can get up and perform while the audience sits back drinking their coffee.

I remember singing this song, and being afraid of the audience. So I kept my eyes on my Dad, who just played and smiled at me. It was like he was saying, don't worry about them--i'm here--just sing to me. What an awesome Dad, huh?

When I heard this version of the song--it was instant love. The hawaiian style is just amazing.

So what better song to dance the father-daughter dance with at my wedding?

*My Heart by
Paramore

This is where you'll find the inner punk rocker in me. Its a poetic song that speaks to me, and when you listen you will hear the "ScreamO" part. Over time, I began to really appreciate that part of the song...because sometimes love makes you want to scream out of anger or utter happiness.

*Hallelujah by Jeff Buckley

The first time I heard this song was in Shrek. Funny how such a deep song was found in a funny animated movie. Ever since then people have flocked to this song...and now a million and one performers have sung their own version-- its that powerful. People from different genres can re-create it their own way--and still have it be flawless.

*The Best Deceptions-- Dashboard Confessional

Chris Carrabba is a true poet. Everything he sings is pure poetry. When I sing his songs out loud (in the shower or in the car--for sake of people's ear drums) the lyrics are heart felt and meaningful. He paints you a picture and you sing it out loud.

This song reminds me of the high school days where love consumed your every thought and you were lost without it. And with great love comes great break-ups. High school break-ups shook your small little world--until the next best thing came along...

I heard about your trip.
I heard about your souvenirs.
I heard about the cool breeze, in the cool nights,
And the cool guys that you spent them with.
Well I guess I should have heard of them from you.
I guess I should have heard of them from you.

Don't you see, don't you see, that the charade is over?

And all the "Best Deceptions" and "Clever Cover Story" awards go to you.
So kiss me hard 'cause this will be the last time that I let you.
You will be back someday and this awkward kiss that tells of other people's lips will be of service to keeping you away.

I heard about your regrets.

I heard that you were feeling sorry.
I heard from someone that you wish you could set things right between us.
Well I guess I should have heard of that from you.
I guess I should have heard of that from you.

I'm waiting for blood to flow to my fingers,

I'll be all right when my hands get warm.Ignoring the phone,
I'd rather say nothing. I'd rather you'd never heard my voice.
You're calling too late too late to be gracious you do not warrant long goodbyes.

*Amazing Love by
Chris Roe

God is love, and His love is amazing. This Christian worship song speaks to my heart as God does. Whenever I hear or sing this song aloud, I am filled with a greater love than I have ever known.

Amazing Love how can this be? That you my King would die for me?
